Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)

What works
Hardly everything: GUI, Tools, Windows, ActionScript, SAPlayer, ...

What does not
Some Shift/Ctrl/Alt combinations do not work (but it is not really a problem) and the repainting of the GUI elements is a little bit slow (especially on window resize).

What was not tested
Tweening, Animation Features ...

Additional Comments

On Ubuntu 6.06 you need to remove/comment out the (unneeded) wacom input-devices in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf, otherwise you get an X Error when trying to run Flash.exe.

Flash won't load
by Kevin on Friday August 4th 2006, 11:50
I'm running Ubuntu 6.04, installed Wine, then Flash through X Windows. Initially when I Wine'd Flash.exe, it complained about a missing .dll. I added this to the system32 directory and the error went away - however, Flash does not load - the terminal simply goes to the next time, like this:

kmadill@kmadill-laptop:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia/Flash
MX 2004$ wine Flash.exe
kmadill@kmadill-laptop:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia/Flash
MX 2004$

Any ideas?

Here is the error message I get. I am new to wine but pretty computer literate so I am not sure where to start my problem solving.

Flash MX on Ubuntu
by Miguel Angel Da Vila on Thursday February 23rd 2006, 22:44
Sorry, in my last post I forget to inform my OS:

Ubuntu Linux 5.10 Breezy Badger

Wine 9.8 (deb package)

Works fine

Installation fine with Wine 9.8
by Miguel Angel Da Vila on Thursday February 23rd 2006, 10:20
Wine 9.8 solves the installation problems in Wine 9.3, 9.4. Now Flash MX installation works normally without any hack, as in Windows counterpart. Only is needed to do double click on the Flash installer icon!

Flash MX install broken on wine 0.9.4
by Miguel Angel Da Vila on Friday December 30th 2005, 22:07
Flash MX installs an run perfectly on Wine 20050725 and 0.9.3 (without any hack, dcom98 or else), but unfortunatly, when I was apgraded to Wine 0.9.4, Wine lost the hability to install Flash MX.

Seems a problem with cab extraction when InstallShield try to expand the files.

Installs fine with 20050725
by Hordak on Monday July 25th 2005, 16:21
Using the 20050725 release of Wine, Flash MX now installs straight out of the box. You don't need to add anything in. Those Wine guys have been working hard on the installshield. Give it a try! :)

Workaround for NEWER versions of Wine
by Hordak on Wednesday June 29th 2005, 14:14
I have found a workaround for getting Flash MX to work on newer versions of Wine (mainly based on what we have already aggregated here.)

* Foremost, the last version Flash MX will install on is wine-20041201. I have been using that version up until today when I am using wine-20050628. Since the 20041201 version, the installer has been "in-development" (aka broken.) However, applications still work.

* I have installed Flash MX on wine-20041201. Basically, it installs & runs fine as long as stdole32.tlb is placed in your fake_windows/system directory. That file is available from your (real) Windows system directory. I just put in my cd, and wine-ran the autorun.exe file (Studio MX), and then chose to install Flash MX.

* After it installs, I "make uninstall" wine-20041201, but I KEEP my .wine folder (or rather, the fake_windows folder with the Flash MX install.) I keep it by renaming it to something like .wine-old (for example > mv .wine .wine-old )

* Next, I install a newer version of wine. In my case, it was wine-20050628. It now creates a new .wine folder.

* Finally, I move my Flash MX install from .wine-old to .wine . For example, move or copy /home/[username]/.wine-old/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia to /home/[username]/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia

* Run Flash MX, and it will ask for your Serial, name, etc. Then it starts up!

That should do the trick! It's actually easier than it sounds.

BOTTOM LINE: Install Flash MX with wine-20041201 and then move the Flash MX install folder to a newer version of Wine!
