Additional Comments
I did this:
Get msxml3.dll from dll-files.com , set it native
This didn't make it work, so I also got msxml3a.dll and msxml4.dll.
Set them both to native in winecfg.
After doing this it worked fine, with the issues above. No crashes, however, so I call it a silver, because the main purpose of the app is usable and the minor issues don't interfere with the possibility of reading magazines.
You need to install the Microsoft version of msxml3 and set Wine to Win98 emulation to get it to work after installation. The symptom of this being necessary is that magazines download correctly, but the software tells you that you don't have a license to view it (the license information is stored in XML files).

Black magazine content
by Aleksander Oleszkiewicz on Friday May 11th 2007, 5:48
I make Zinio working but have to set env to Windows2000 as under Win98 had this missing license error (with native msxml3.dll copied form WindowsXP)
Now it works, but once I open a magazine I can see only black content with blue lines (links underlines). I have ThinkPad T60p with ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200 running on fglrx driver.
Reducing random crashes

I found out, that turning off all the options in Advanced tab in configuration dialog helps to prevent most of the cras. Particularly I am able to open all the magazines that would cause Zinio Reader to crash, when some of aforementioned options were turned on.
However, it still crashes sometimes when turning the page back.

Are you sure it's only msxml3.dll that has to be native? I did what you said and I still get the same error. Fresh .wine's directory, copied the msxml3.dll to windows/system32, added it to the Libraries Overrides in winecfg and changed to Windows 98. No luck though :/ Where did you get this library from?
