That's odd, it installs fine for me. I previously had the "Incomplete Installation (2)" error with other versions of wine. With 1.1.35 I launched the game from Steam and it went through a "Completing installation..." dialog that was successful, and then launched fine. In the past that dialog would die at 1%, and then gave the error.
The game seems to work perfectly. I've applied the SRGB patch and I get between 40-70 FPS, and so far I've completed one campaign (Swamp Fever). However I didn't get the achievement for finishing the campaign, so there could be a Steam/L4D2 disconnect.

I got 1.1.35 to install and play by pointing the WINEPREFIX to the same actual drive as the Steam files. (This is essentially a port of a fix that helped some people on Windows). In my previous setup I had needed space on my main filesystem volume, so I had symlinked to another volume for my Steam directory. Evidently Steam's DRM doesn't like this (Windows on C:\ and Steam on E:\ or similar). Still slower FPS than L4D1, but at least I can play it now.
