Also, am I the only one with no sound in the FMV cutscenes? (Particularly those at the beginning of the game) I'll file a bug if someone else confirms it - I'm just surprised to not see one already since it should happen to everyone that begins to play the game.

I have this exact same problem. The only thing I can think is it's because of an updated Xorg? I'm running Archlinux with the testing repos and at some point and time (I'm not sure when or with which upgrade) STO stopped working for me, doing exactly as the above poster mentioned.
I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers using bumblebee (and again, I had everything set up and running)
