RE: ATI card, Ubuntu 10.04, 95% working

I installed the proprietary driver found on ATI's website on a fresh ubuntu install. Rebooted, tried to run starcraft 2 and all i get is a black screen with no sound. I had to hard reboot because my entire computer became unresponsive. Alas running it from terminal didn't work because my computer became unresponsive in both windowed and full-screen.
