i run ubuntu 10.10, the nvidia drivers that ubuntu installed.
i had a basic atlhon 245, 2gb ram, gt240.
i had 1gb of ram but the swap keep filling, and all performance go down, even lost sound, in fact i be able to play if all settings were low, the game wont run with 1 gb of ram and more than low settings in my computer, however after buying the 1g extra all is fine.
i dont know the fps from were you are asking (game, campaign, the bar or hyperion menu, multiplayer, etc) but overall all the game is smooth in my pc, i try all settings in ultra at full hd 1920x1080, and get +- 15fps, very playable as i remember, in fact i lower settings because the "pretty lights" keep distracting me from the game.
in all low settings i get more fps that my lcd is capable of, so is a waste.
im playing a custom settings too, im happy with the 30fps i get, but my pc is very basic, i would think your computer could do more.
blizzards games are all about ghz, i think more than 2 cores dont make a difference, a friend pc run better with a 2 core 3.1ghz, than with a 4 core 2.6ghz
if you ask for a specific game/campaign and settings, i can try and post my fps (just not after the hyperion in campaign, sc2 keep crashing at the same point, and i can fix it yet)
