RE: SCII stopped launching.

This always happened to me.
just execute:

wine [directory of StarCraft II]/Support/SC2Switcher.exe

and it'll work.
Or kill the "StarCraft II.exe" and re-double click the SC2 icon...
In any case, if you want to execute it straight away, use the switcher (SC2Switcher.exe under the Support directory where you did install SC2).

Cheers,

I'm having what seems to be exactly the same problem. I had everything working very well from the beginning of the beta until October 2010 with a wine-1.2 rc; I stopped playing for a while and when I came back, the game didn't work.

Immediately upon starting the game for the first time after installing, the patcher downloads and applies the most recent tools update. When BlizzardUpdater finishes, the launcher quits and attempts to restart. I see the following:

fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT (2000): STUB
fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT 2000

this time, and every time I attempt to run "wine StarCraft\ II.exe" thereafter. The launcher does not start again.

Upon attempting to run (from within the SC2 install root) "wine ./Support/SC2Switcher.exe", I see the following every time:

fixme:hnetcfg:fw_profile_get_FirewallEnabled 0x11cee0, 0x434efbc
fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0x434ed50,0x434ed54): stub
fixme:ntdll:NtQuerySystemInformation info_class SYSTEM_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION
fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0x369cd4c,0x369cd50): stub
fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0x369c9d8,0x369c9dc): stub
fixme:ntdll:NtPowerInformation semi-stub: SystemPowerCapabilities

and an "ACCESS VIOLATION" message with lots of debugging information pops up in wine.

I get the same result with wine-1.3.14 and wine-1.2.1.
I also tested kernels 2.6.36 and 2.6.37.
I'm running Gentoo amd64. GPU is an nvidia 7600GT with nvidia-drivers-260.19.29.

Is anybody else out there seeing this behavior?
