I'm having the same problems with natty, general sound instability in Starcraft. The sound dies often but going to the options menu restores it for some reason.
The drivers were on of the few things that have changed but I just assumed there was no way that the 270 driver could cause this.
I'm using the 270 driver from the nvidia-current package - I don't know if there are any differences between it and the blob from nvidia download.
I tried to downgrade to 260 but gdm wouldn't start. Also the problem isn't so much that starcraft sound doesn't work but my voip program mumble crashes when starcraft is open with a seg fault about halfway into every game.
