RE: gnome-shell 3.2 system tray interferes with starcraft
by Julian Murgia on Wednesday December 7th 2011, 8:15
I changed my distribution from Ubuntu 11.10 to Linux Mint 12 which includes Gnome 3.2.

The problem has currently disappeared for me in Starcraft 2. Here are my settings in winecfg :
Windows 2008 R2
Some libraries replaced and set to native (I don't have the detail here).
[ ] Automatically capture mouse (not sure whether this is relevant
[X] Allow the window manager to decorate the windows
[X] Allow the window manager to control the windows
[ ] Emulate virtual desktop

The windows key is disabled, which is not a problem for the gameplay (lose of focus was disturbing for me).

PS : I just tested changing the wine version for playing Starcraft Brood War which had the same problem). Using 1.3.32 and the same settings than upper solves the problem.

PSS : it seems that the problem doesn't occur when the Gnome desktop resolution is set to the same resolution as the game. For Brood War, I started the game once with high resolution (1680x1050), but the game switches to 640*480 : problem occurs. I quit the game directly, the Gnome desktop keeps resolution 640*480 : I restart the game directly, the problem doesn't occur.
