RE: Notes outdated?

@Kelytha

Hi just started maintaining the Steam app. (since the other guy seems to be asleep at the wheel :-) ). I'll try to catch up (gradually) on the admin jobs that he hasn't been doing! One of the problems I've got just now is that a lot of people thought it was a good idea to alpha Gnome3 and Unity - for some reason!! I bet that will introduce issues with updating the gameoverlay information I bet!

One of the problems with the winetricks install of steam is that it appears to pull in a lot of Windows crap that isn't needed and could cause problems (like the full dx9 libraries). It's not clear if this will override the native Wine libraries. No overrides are specified in the Wine registry files but the files are modified (file modification dates are changed) in the Steam Wineprefix folder C:\Windows\System32 (that winetricks creates). I'll question this upstream...

BTW could you let me know what Wine version you used + GPU & driver when you enabled the game overlay. I gather this just slows down the game a bit - right? Can you/ do you use - Steam in game chat? If so does that work? I haven't tried enabling it myself yet...

Thanks
Bob
