Ubuntu or OS X?

Is it possible that my Macbook Pro doesn't have a video card that will cut it and that is generating the above error? Or, should I get a friendlier error message if my hardware specs aren't up to snuff? This is after:

winetricks msxml3 msxml4 d3dx9

on my Mac... Civ IV games run fine on my Mac too, and I can get Civ V to work on my Ubuntu machine. Under OS X the error message I provided above occurs.

On OS X here and wine 1.3.3, and I installed the demo just fine through wine, but when I start the game up I just get a black screen and nothing else.

I tried installing these packages (msxml3 and msml4 and d3dx9) with winetricks, but it didn't do any good. I still just get a black screen.

Anybody have other ideas?
