RE: GTA Vice City becomes slower after playing it for some time
by CJP on Thursday August 28th 2008, 8:01
I installed Wine 1.1.3 by following this page:
www.winehq.org/site/download-deb

"wine --version" now returns "wine-1.1.3". I thought this would be easier and more fail-safe than compiling, but I'll try the compiling later.

GTA now loads differently. The GNOME menu bars appear in front of the fullscreen GTA window, and I get garbage in stead of the "spash screen". The menus look OK (maybe slightly different colors), but more slow, and the selected menu item seems to have a small offset relative to the mouse position. When loading a game, the program hangs (again garbage in stead of spash screen) without CPU activity.

Do I need to update my Wine configuration or something like that?

Another question (I'm a newbie here): I guess this can take some time and lots of communication. Would it be better to do that here, or on e-mail?
