RE: Installer issues
by Alexander Nicolaysen Sørnes on Saturday July 29th 2006, 8:18
I recommend trying 0.9.15 and see if that works; the old DDraw code should work mostly the same on all video cards, but the new code is based on Wine D3D, and so it may cause problems. The problem may also be fixed in Wine 0.9.18.

It is possible to have multiple versions of Wine installed at the same time. When you unpack the Wine archive, run configure with './configure --prefix=$INSTALLDIR', where you substitute $INSTALLDIR with where you want it installed. After 'make depend && make', do 'make install'. You can install it into a directory in your home folder, for example, so you don't need to be root.
