I had the same problem. Open the Sacred Settings program. Enable Video Compatibility Mode.
When the game first starts, you're character will be stuck in the center of the screen (the position you assume when a video is playing, I guess). Save and re-load. Everything should work fine from there. I haven't played past the first chapter yet, so I don't know if your character gets stuck every time a video plays or just after the opening cinematics.
Otherwise, the game has run amazingly well for me.
