I tested the Ares Chat without the Rich Edit overrides and the issue does remain with Wine 1.3.26 with the sent text does not scroll down to a new line in chat history. With the overrides the chat will send text on a new line in chat history like it does in windows.
I noticed I did not get the dialog box like I did before that goes away when the chat is closed. It could not be closed.
Try installing the richedit override with winetricks and see if your emotion faces work. Then you might see what I am talking about with the sent text does not create a new line where it would mix with the previous message in chat history.
I will try the emotion faces when I boot Linux again.
I would probably have to send screen shots or a video on what it does.
Then open your WINE's virtual C drive then SYSTEM32 folder replace the ole32.dll with the one you downloaded.
Then go to Wine control panel for overrides then find ole32.dll in the list then set the ole32.dll to native only. Then run ARES and enjoy your emotion faces.
