Yeah, that's the method I used, though I had to put everything in the registry by hand. The first time I launched DC, it told me that my DOW was bad, then went to the registry, touched the backslash thing, and it didn't get the "bad install" message again.
"My wild guess is that for some reason, DC fails to spawn W40k.exe (DoW .exe file) in order to check it is actually installed."
What do you mean by "spawn"? The exe files must be already there, DC doesn't create none, just checks if there are any. You must have DoW exe and WA exe in the "installlocation".
