I've been having a similar issue as well. I'm also using an nvidia 9800gtx+ with the 180.44 drivers, but on Intrepid; Wine version 1.1.19.
I typically don't have any problems in Dalaran (other than an abysmal framerate), but more often during raids. The video freezes, the sound stutters like an old CD player repeatedly skipping, and input seems to do nothing. I can kill the process, start the game, and login again to pick up where I left off. This happened to me a little under a dozen times in the three or so hours my guild spend on XT-002 attempts last night; a few times just as scrapbots started spawning. (As a mage on bot-duty, freezing up at this point could be devastating -- and it was on one attempt!)
What's the best course of action to troubleshoot this? I attempted to futz with settings (video settings, and turning on/off addons) in-game to try to prevent it, but I was just stabbing in the dark. I'd much rather go about about fixing this more deterministically. I'm not sure where to look, and I'd appreciate some direction. :)
