Ok, I've uninstalled wine 1.1.28, installed Wine 1.1.01. Same problem. Download the update again (3.0.1->3.0.2, very old, just to check) with wget from another website, same problem. Worse, I've tried Cedega and it gives me the same error! So I'm rulling out this is a Wine problem, since I remember updating WoW with Wine without a hitch a year ago with wine 1.1.01 and WoW 3.0.1. I've changed all my file permissions to read and write, but it didn't work either. WoW updater creates 0 byte files in it's directory, but doesn't start the process. My last chance: I'm gonna reinstall WoW and try to apply the patch again (I doubt it will work, I've used Repair like 10 times already and got problems at all), but this time I will download the patch from my work, in a Windows machine. Crossing fingers...
