just tested the launcher and it works. It downloads the launcher updates and shows the animations and everything. It also downloads the other 3.3 update part2 while playing.
Tested on Ubuntu 9.10 and connection was ADSL 1024 (which is about 128KiB)

If you can, please provide me what distro are you using and version, what wine version are you using and what options did you configure in the winecfg. Also if you can, let me know what changes you made if any to the config.wtf file in the wow folder and parameter are you using when launching the launcher.exe. For last, tell me what cpu you have, memory and video card (and memory in video card) you are using as well as sound card.

I have problems with the launcher too (full game).
When i launch it , it changes permissions on my WoW folder so i have to switch it back with chmod 777 .
So i just play directly from wow.exe
