I'm running Gentoo ~amd64 with wine 1.1.37. As I said, it works fine for me. The errors look like it is failing in ALSA. Have you updated ALSA since you updated wine? I'd try re-emerging alsa-lib and then wine. Maybe that will help. You can also try changing the sound set up in winecfg.
