Running under new WINEPREFIX, still nothing
by Andrei on Tuesday October 12th 2010, 21:47
I googled around and thought that perhaps DirectX9 I winetrick'ed is interfering with WoW, and tried a clean WINEPREFIX.
1. move .wine to .wine-backup
2. wineboot
3. Copy WoW from .wine-backup
4. WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine-backup wine Wow.exe -opengl

but still WOW won't recognize the card. nVidia 8600GTS should support shader 3.

I'm having the same issue..GTS 450, Fedora 13, wine 1.3.1-1, latest kernel and nVidia drivers as of 10/13. I don't think it's anything obvious..just something wrong in whatever Warcraft is using to try to determine the capabilities of the graphics card..or, perhaps, in what wine is telling Warcraft.

Same problem here on Ubuntu 10.04 x64, Wine 1.3.4 and using a NIVIDA 9600 GT.

The same or similar problem here :(

In D3D9 mode i can set only "fair" preset.

The same problem on second machine with WindowsXP, so i guess that WOW need DX11 for better quality.

In OpenGL mode all preset bar is red.
What wersion of OpenGL is wraped by Wine ?

confirming similar problem with opengl enabled gxAPI. Think this appeared to happen after 4.0.1 ? 4.0.3 ?
