Thanks for your reply. Actually there's a newer driver release available from Intel (for the 915-series). The package contains the X server in version 6.x while I'm already using 7.0. It didn't seem to me that the drivers included there are somehow different to the ones I get from the Ubuntu repositry, therefore I didn't take the stress to compile and try it.
WoW actually works on my Laptop but with D3D emulation and poor framerates. When travelling around in the city with lots of characters and animations the framerate goes down to 2fps. In the open landscape it's somewhere near 6 or 7fps. Inside buildings or caves the game runs smooth. My assumption is that it would run better with openGL support but yet I also lack of any solution.
