Yep, copying the entire contents of the 'fonts' directory on your windows system whether it be win2000 or XP to /home/[yourlogin]/.wine/c_drive/windows/fonts/ makes a hug difference to the way many applications look under wine, i.e. using the windows fonts makes applications look just the same as if they were running under windows. So if you fonts don't look correct or your applications window is narrow instead of the normal width you would expect under windows use the windows fonts to correct the problem.
