I got "offscreenrenderingmode" set to "fbo" already. I tried to install that "WINEtricks" with DirectX (And I think I succeeded...) but didn't make any difference. Wine is set to run it in Windows Vista, and I never run it from the command line.
As for what program I use for framerates... Nothing so far. It's just the difference between Windows and Linux is so great at times that I haven't had much need for one. If I were to wing it... I'd say it goes from running better than Windows (Mog House and POL itself) to half the framerate or worse in certain events when compared to Windows.
Fedora 11 comes out in a few days too, so I'm hoping somehow some problems might get solved with that, if it even is a Fedora problem. But yeah, I dunno what to think. It'd be great if I could get this to work perfectly, 'cause FFXI is pretty much the only reason I need to go into Windows.
