i installed ffxi on 1.1.22 with the vana'diel collection 2008 dvd. the only thing i needed was the dxdiagn.dll from a windows xp computer. it worked just as always, ffxi runs fast and closes normaly and also goes back to playonline viewer without problems.
the only difference is that i never used a windows vista patch for playonline.
i run ffxi windowed(wine window mode - the game itself runs with fullscreen setting) at 1920x1200 with fbo(shouldn't be needed any more with wine 1.1.23) and turned to windows vista mode. that's all.
