RE: POL either black or 'barcode' text

I'm also having a problem with POL being a black screen.
I have audio, but no visual (aside from a black POL screen)
I did exactly as the "HOWTO" guide stated, but with no luck.
My specs are as follows:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66Ghz
-ASUS P5Q Deluxe Motherboard
-XFX GeForce 9600 GSO (768MB)
-4 GB of RAM
-Western Digital Green Caviar 1TB (7600RPM/32MB) hard drive
-HP 2009m LCD monitor (1600x900) using DVI.
-Linux Mint 7 64-bit (first couple of attempts)
-I had everything set to VISTA, as well as DXDIAG under POL.exe set to Windows (native).
My drivers are installed and are proprietary.
I was getting the black POL screen under Mint, so I tried it under Ubuntu 9.04 3(2-bit) with VirtualBox. It was at this point that I realized I was running it with Wine 1.0.1. So I installed 1.1.29. Again, I followed a the HOWTO guide.
Then I ran into a different error...
After installed FFXI, POL and all of the expansions I tried to run POL. Then I got a Wine Program error. When it tried to bring up the POL window It would close down immediately and give me the Wine Program error.
Could that error been because I was running Ubuntu 9.04 via VirtualBox?
