Sounds like maybe every time you click the game window, the window manager is thinking that you're wanting to move it? You could try running winecfg and adding an application entry for Gw.exe. Highlight the Gw.exe entry and click the graphics tab. Unselect "allow the window manager to control the windows"
See if that helps. I also recommend setting the version for Gw.exe to windows 2000, and in regedit under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/AppDefaults/Gw.exe adding a Direct3D key and a new string which evaluates to UseGLSL=disabled (although in 1.1.13/1.1.14 this will cause graphical glitches, it will net you a big gain in fps in earlier versions with no side effects)
