I am having the same problem. "Unable to Dispatch exception".
Wine: 1.1.27
Ubuntu: 9.04
Have read around several places but the forums always end at this problem, with no solutions I have tried being successful. I have the latest video card drivers w/ Nvidia running driver 173. Latest wine and ubuntu. Although I have not changed any registry edits because I don't want to mess anything up. Do not know where to go from here.
