Hello,
Actually it depends on the version of Wine you are using. I noticed PlayonLinux installs wrong or broken binaries for some specific versions, that is why a game can't be launched at all !
Maybe you are in the same situation: I suggest you to try with another version of Wine, or through Wine directly.
P.S: In my desktop, Guild Wars does not run from versions 1.3.1 to 1.3.12 ( I am using the game with 1.2.2 stable version).
