My desktop does not have an ubuntu supported card (yet, it's NVIDIA 8600), while my laptop does. Perhaps this is the difference? Still looking for answers to my original post. To start, the wine users list would be a more appropriate place for this question, as more people are able to easily see and respond to your question. However, I do not KNOW how to solve your issues, but do have a suggestion or two. 1) ensure that the resolution set in winecfg for dmcr matches that set in the game - no guarantee this will work, it's just the first thing I would try. It may also be a driver issue - it sounds like your video card isn't reacting well to the ddraw.dll file. Having said that, my limited knowledge is more likely to lead you on a wild goose chase, so I would again ask that you subscribe to the wineusers list and pose your questions there - many more people who are much better qualified to answer will be able to help.
