Have you compiled Wine yourself or is it shipped (patched) by SuSE?
Any output from wine to the console?

I am having the exact same problem in Ubuntu Jaunty with Wine 1.0.1 and 1.1.21. The issue persists even after trying every possible combination of audio configuration options in Wine, including trying OSS 4.x and DirectX 9.0c and re-trying all combinations again.

Seems that closing those bugs as fixed was a tad premature.
