Hi Eric,
if there is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\MountedDevices" already present, I'd suppose You're done. I agree the howto seems pretty incomplete and I'd use the one for SI. Alas, I own Oblivion 1.2 only so I'm spared of these problems and cannot help You more.
