RE: not finding graphics card

ok, let me see..
i opened the terminal from the desktop.
typed in "gksudo wine regedit"
that gave me a file browser called "registry editor"
i went to "hkey_curent_user"
to "software"
to "wine"
nowhere in here is a file or folder called "direct3d", nor does a search of my hd find one.
should i be creating this file?
i hope im not being completely obtuse here, but i am completely lost.
