RE: Why do they need dcom98? by Alistair Leslie-Hughes on Tuesday June 22nd 2010, 23:00 dcom98 is to workaround the issue in oleaut32 when dealing with ODBC connections. See bug bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22071 In version 8.0 they have worked around the issue. Anything below version 8 will exhibit the above bug. There is also an issue with scripting when using buildin oleaut32/rpcrt4.
