What kind of error are you getting? I'll try to list everything I had to set, but I might be forgetting something...

1. In SE5's Data\Settings folder, disable the music (it's the first setting listed).
2. Place a native d3dxof.dll in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32
3. Set wine to use the native d3dxof DLL only via winecfg.

I probably missed something there, but that's all I can think of at the moment, besides ancillary stuff like "update video card driver"...
