With a fresh prefix and wine-1.3.28, I found that to get movies to work, in addition to the dlls listed by Dimitri Vorona, I also needed to install quartz using winetricks.
Without quartz.dll installed via winetricks, the game would always die with a "fixme:quartz:MPEGSplitter_query_accept MPEG-1 system streams not yet supported" error when starting any video.
