I replaced the ubuntu sourced proprietary drivers with nvidia drivers also. I have better performance in other things like flash. However my fps has not improved. The FPS is not the issue, as I get about 60-80 fps. The issue is it stutters randomly, and I am uncertain why. I have almost everything turned all the way down, and it doesn't seem to have an effect.
Did you get this effect? Do you still? What else have you done to improve performance?
