Yes, it works just fine here. If Steam's servers are to busy to serve i up, that's not a bug, that's just Steam saying your download servers are packed. Go to Settings and change to an area in a sleepy timezone.

I'm finding that I can play in a small/empty server, but as soon as a bunch of people join (even if I'm doing offline practice with bots), I get huge lag and time out.

It works, but might have introduced a new bug, after playing for about 20min or so, wine starts to spit out a huge amount of GL errors to the point were the game slows down to 1~5 fps and is unplayable.

Same problem. I told my buddy @ Valve about it and got a lecture on why I should just use windows. :P

Apart from what was said above I have another problem: game works as long as I don't touch keyboard. I touch any key - the game crashes.
I also must run it in windowed mode, because when using "-fullscreen" it's not even starting.
