take a look at "Mouse auto movement" discussion below. With old wine 1.3.19 the problem isn't here.
I think the problem doesn't appear on windows, probably wine developer are working on mouse system, the version 1.3.20 was really unplayable, 1.3.21 is better but the problem still here

The issue is easily fixed just by running winecfg and then checking emulate a virtual desktop, and make sure automatically capture then mouse is UNCHECKED. Also, having the steam community enabled (Shift tab) seems to be related to this issue

This problem has nothing to do with Valve updating the game at all.

Look in the bug table toward the top of this page. I added this bug there a while ago. This behavior is bug #27156, "Bioshock demo: mouse jumps around menu". It applies to tf2 in-game the same way. For those who are very technical, you can keep track of the issue there and either patch xorg-server with the file there or recompile wine with the flag --without-xinput2, each workaround having its own pros and cons.

For everyone else.. For now, unless stupid workarounds like virtual desktops are suitable for you, use an older version of wine. If you are using ubuntu or its derivatives, disable the WineHQ repository and use the ones ubuntu comes with, and downgrade it by force. Perhaps ppa-purge can help? I don't know. This issue started around wine 1.3.20. I am reasonably certain 1.3.19 still worked. If not, it is only a version or two older than that which worked. On quick look at the ubuntu packages site, it is using Wine 1.2.2 for the "wine" package or Wine 1.3.15 for the "wine1.3" package, so you should be okay there if you use either of those instead of WineHQ's. I would suggest the package "wine1.3", which is 1.3.15, as it has fewer problems with Steam and Tf2 than 1.2.x did, in my experience. Note: I don't use ubuntu, so this may or may not be accurate. Please post if it is not.

In any case, others more knowledgeable than I say that this is a problem with xorg-server that came up after Wine's new support for / defaulting to xinput2, a superior input method. It is problematic right now, but in the long run, it will make *significantly* more games that had mouse problems before work perfectly in wine in time, so give the wine and xorg developers a little patience and stick to an older wine for now or work around it yourself temporarily if you can.

Hope this makes sense of the problem to some of you and offers some help.

I can report that 1.3.22 unfortunately does not fix this issue.

Is everybody else getting this and using workarounds to avoid it or something?
