Please be more specific? Did this used to work.. and work well for you?
I have no issues running PWI:Genesis, though the new area has no music(Windows bug - Missing files as of this post), and some players seem to lose sound entirely in the new area(bug origin not known).
It is running fine on my system after doing an automatic update from within the game, though I did have to hit verify once due to download interruptions.
My own system exceeds the spec requirements quite a bit.

I had a lot of crashes too, I was running on newest wine. Some crashes happened with a little wine bug reporter, some with a crash as if PWI wasn't even running.
I since reverted back to 1.2.x (the stable version), and haven't had one problem yet!

Before you run the program again:
1. Did the program ask you if you want to update again, even though you have already. Even if you did, and even if you updated the game, that little box is telling you it wants to update the interface. So let it.
2. Verify the installation/files. I know you waited a while to update the files, and even though you thought everything was updated, Verify the files/installation again. Just click that little link/button above the START button, It might take 5-10 minutes, but afterward your program might work.
Hope this helps. And when I say START button, I AM not referring to the Windows Start button. I am referring to the games Start button. This IS a wine site.
