It does load very long for the first time, something like a minute, that might be due to "handshaking" thing. If you've waited longer, then something went wrong.
Still you'll need more data to understand what went wrong. Try to run game from terminal and look through the output.
I'm new to this place, so I'm not sure where you can post this output and consult others, forums maybe?
