I Have this same problem and i can't seem to find any checkboxes under preferences, so if you could try to specify where it should be i could maybe find it.
i have the knowlege to read some german so i can change the language in steam to match if you decide to write it in german, but i prefere english.
would be realy help full i have been trying to start Cstrike 1.6 for a week now and i have followed alot of forum treads on how to do it, but this is the closest i have come to this problem.
