I'm fully aware that :
+ GamesForWindowsLive is not part of fallout3,
+ it is required to run the game (specifically the xlive.dll).
However :
+ there is no satisfactory process described here to install it.
all efforts to install it normally indicate the requirement of dontNet 3.5,
and installing dotNet 3.5 is more trouble than it is worth.
However, its fairly obvious that many are not having to install dotNet at all to get it running (but dotNet is still required for something like FalloutModManager).
Wine Versions

I've tried using wine 1.1.32 through to 1.1.36.
I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and the 195.30 Nvidia Drivers on an Nvidia 8800gts.
There is another post here in the comments indicating this card works with fallout3 under wine.
What Occurs when running fallout3.exe?
