First of sorry...yes, my guide lost some of it's formarting...mainly all the <path-to-downloaded-file> and <path-to-mounted-dvd> I had in it. Seems stuff that looks like html tags gets removed from comments. (Yes, for the next time i know to better use the html codes for the signs)
Now to the log...I have the "Failed to register DLL quartz.dll" here too but it wasn't a problem for me. I used winetricks V 696 for my install...maybe there were some changes after that.
I find it interesting you had to remove the dciman32 overwrite...because the only reason I had it in my guide was to get the installer of "amov4ie.exe" work at all.
Performance: I think it's slightly slower than on windows native here...in normal gameplay. If I enter a sector with 100+ of connected stations I -think- linux has the advantage in speed. (You know....6FPS instead of 5FPS ;)). Also it appears to make a big difference if I start from KDE with desktop effects (kind of slower) or start it from fluxbox. And I noticed some last thing...what kind of confuses me. I think this is KDE only again...but at times if I restart x3tc it's really awfully slow...as in...I need 5 minutes to just be able to move the cursor to the "quit" button again. And the only way to solve this appears to be a relog in KDE. But most of the time the game is prefectly playable for me.
What seems to make a big difference in speed is antialaising. Try turning it off.
