I didn't. My Wine install is standard, I have no overrides nor have I used winetricks.

Your problem is very strange; I don't know why the game is pointing to a .cpp source file that is completely outside of the game folder. I've never seen the folder C:\Work\forge\ an any windows or wine install and I couldn't find any information on "DeviceD3D9"

The only thing that I can think of right now is to purge and re-install Wine and try to install Demigod like that. NOTE: You will need to set your registry keys correctly first (read this: wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys).

Lastly, and I know this sounds weird, but I've had friends who copy/pasted the installed game from a windows install into their linux box -- that is to say, they installed the game on Windows, than copied the whole folder from c:/Program Files for Demigod, and played it that way.
