Wine crashed at applying msp updates, what did happen in 1.1.29 compiled from source, and did not with .deb by lamaresh.net, however MSO Installer reported unsuccessful patching, currently I'm waiting for 1.1.30 in deb.
This report concern wine 1.1.30 compiled from source by myself (installed with make install) with no libhal/libdbus, libsane, libgsm, libmpg123 and with no libopenal support.
In current Wine, simply install as you would in Windows: insert the cd, and run setup.exe. No overrides are needed to install in Wine 1.1.3 or later.
Known bad versions (do not try to install):
1.1.17 through 1.1.23
all versions prior to 1.1.3 (see below)
If using a version of Wine older than 1.1.3 (yes, this includes 1.0.1), it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to the current development release. If you are unwilling or unable to do that, these howtos may be helpful, but follow them at your own risk, as they call for overrides that may or may not work, and may cause problems with other apps:
Questions about either of these howtos should be directed to the people who wrote them. Do not file bugs or ask for help on the forum or IRC if you have followed either of these howtos.
Native files needed
No overrides are needed to install Office 2007 in 1.1.3 or later. Do not file bug reports for the installer if you have used any native dlls.
Once installed, the following overrides are needed to run:
riched20:Set riched20 to 'native' in Winecfg. DO NOT INSTALL IT YOURSELF. Office 2007 comes with its own version of riched20. Without using it, Powerpoint will not launch, and other features may be lacking.
Windows Scripting Host (jscript):
Needed for the Thesaurus.
symbol.ttf: For versions of Wine prior to 1.1.16, this font must be installed for bullets and equations to display properly
usp10: Set usp10 to 'native, builtin' in winecfg for the equation toolbar in Word. There is no need to install it; simply set the override.
Questions?
The comments below are not regularly monitored. Please post any questions or requests for help on the forum.
Guidelines for Submitting Test Reports
Test in a clean wineprefix, using plain Wine.
Specify exactly which edition of Office 2007 you tested (Standard, Pro, etc.). This is crucial--bugs that affect one edition may not affect others.
Specify exactly what type of install you tested (Typical, Custom, Minimal, etc.)
Limit
your report to the installer only. Reports on the performance of
individual apps should be filed under their respective AppDB entries.
Problems with running any of the apps should only be mentioned if it is
clear that it is due to a problem with the installer.
If you used any overrides during the install,
please list them and explain exactly what problem each override was
needed to solve.
Test reports that do not follow these guidelines will be rejected.

Office 2007 Enterprise missing MSCVR80.dll and others
by Aron on Thursday November 12th 2009, 11:59
Hello,
I'm running fedora 11 x64 with kernel 2.6.30.9-96 and wine i586 1.1.32.
I installed the office installation on my Windows 7 partition using Windows 7.
When running
wine WINWORD.EXE
I get the following
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.VC80.CRT" (8.0.50608.0)
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCR80.dll (which is needed by L"I:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Office\\Office12\\WINWORD.EXE") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"I:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Office\\Office12\\WINWORD.EXE" failed, status c0000135
I did add the library two library exceptions with winecfg usp10 and the one that started with an r.
Can't type the serial
by Guilo on Friday November 6th 2009, 10:17
Hi !
I have installed Office 2007 Enterprise Edition on wine 1.1.31 sucessfully. I now want to install Office OneNote 2007 but when the installer shows up I can't type the serial (I haven't got the writing cursor) but I can click on next. Doing so will ask me to install wtihout key but install fails.
I have tried to reinstall Office 2007. When I launch the installer (which worked great beacause it allowed me to installed Office 2007 Enterprise Edition) it has the same behaviour as OneNote's one.
Office 2007 installation went flawlessly on my xubuntu 9.10.
Word and Excel works fine.
But I also have bug 20250, which is minor and does not bug me at all, but when I try to open (from Thunar) file which has spaces in its filename (e.g "Example Document.doc"), it tries to open "Example.doc and Document.doc" separately.
On the other hand, when I open this file directly from Word, then it will open as supposed.
I am using wine 1.1.31 and Office 2007 Enterprise.
I had previously installed stuff using winetricks so I had to set all libraries to builtin in winecfg, then I had to install msxml3 because the installer would not work without it, which failed previously, then the installation worked (not a custom installation), but crashed at the "applying updates" stage, so I just closed the program.
I then installed vcrun2005sp1 and allfonts and set riched20 to native in winecfg, and usp10 to "native, builtin".
I cant make it work
by Denisse on Thursday September 3rd 2009, 3:05
It says "setup did not complete successfully" after I click on "open with wine program loader.." I've followed many tutorials... i've rewritten rpcrt4.dll and msixml3.dll... I've set them to native and downloaded the winetricks stuff... but still it wont work !
Multiple installations problem
by rocko on Monday July 20th 2009, 2:57
I find that I can install Office 2007 *or* Visio 2007 *or* Project 2007 on a virgin wine installation, but once one of these is installed, the others will fail to install, citing an unknown error. Does anyone know why or how to fix it? Of course I can install them under different wine prefixes but it would be preferable under a single prefix.
Access won't work
by tydell on Friday March 13th 2009, 15:41
Hi !
I was wonder if someone installed Office 2007 Enterprise. I have this version and everything works fine except Access 2007. It's some msvcpr80.dll problem. Other apps works fine and some of them also need this dll to work, but only Access won't to start

I built wine 1.1.12 on my 64-bit Fedora 10 according to the instructions at wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit . I used the instructions for Fedora 9 as there were no references to Fedora 10. The build went fine. When I tried to install the MS Office 2007 Trial, I got the Windows Installer 3.1 error again. However, I am able to run Windows, Excel, and Publisher. Unable to run PowerPoint.

Office 2007 Pro Trial Version
by Michael Jaffe on Tuesday January 13th 2009, 5:35
I'm trying to get the Office 2007 60-day trial version to work. Upon registration at the MS web site, I received three files in my Download directory: X12-30196-DLM.exe, X12-30196.exe and X13-40150.exe. I didn't get any "Setup.exe" app. The first one (X12-30196-DLM.exe) calls the other two, so I guess that is the Download Manager for the app. Running X12-30196-DLM.exe in turn automatically runs the other two files simultaneously. X13-40150.exe has a bunch of files extracted and ends with the following:
"Microsoft Office Professional CD2 requires Windows Installer 3.1 to be installed. To install Windows Installer 3.1, click OK. To quit without installing, click Cancel."
I click "OK" and then get
"Setup could not install the required Windows Installer."
X12-30196.exe is the graphic installer window for Office 2007 and ends with an error message.
I assume that my inability to install Windows Installer 3.1 is the basis of my install problems with the trial version of Office 2007.
