Unable to start

When starting I get a window full of html (or similar text) that I can do nothing with because it has not displayed properly. Presumably this is meant to be the window where you are told "This is a 60 minute trial" and are given the option to buy the full version. However, as I said, it only displays the underlying html.
Can anyone help, I cannot imagine I am the only one who has this problem?
PS. sorry if this is not the right place to ask such questions, I'm new here and don't quite know where everything is meant to go.
