TomTom Home not detecting device
by Michael on Friday February 4th 2011, 19:26
Some observations-
With my 910 connected via the USB port and with the Drives tab of Wine configuration running, if I choose E:/media/TomTom Disk and play around with the Type and then select Apply (if it dark not greyed out), a red cross appears on my 910. Wine config is at least communicating partially with my 910.

I don't understand why my Type selections always default back to Autodetect. This might be significant. I have had some success with Garmin software running under Wine, it is able to communicate with my usb connected Edge 705 GPS if I select Floppy in the Type box.

Device detection
by Colin Stephen on Friday August 27th 2010, 4:13
From briefly looking at the console output, it looks to me that the main problem may be the lack of implementation of:

GetVolumePathNamesForVolumeNameW

It is called repeatedly soon after start up and would seem a reasonable way for TomTom Home to be finding the appropriate mass storage device.

RE: Hints for device detection failure

TomTom seems to be pretty non-responsive if you query them about anything involving Linux. I sent them two requests for information about possible Linux ports and also volunteered to be a beta tester for them for a Linux version of TomTomHome (when they were soliciting such volunteers late last year). I've never received anything back from them.

Also- for the record- the latest TomTom's (Like TomTomOne v3) don't work with Macs either. The Mac version of the Home software doesn't recognize them at all. TomTom's "solution" when I contacted them through technical suppor: Run Windows. :(

I really do hope a solution is found soon. There were only two things I use that don't work in Linux- iTunes and TomTomHome. iTunes works now.
