Additional Comments
You need to set MouseWarpOverride to force to prevent mouse from moving out of the window when turning. Strangely enough, the mouse in the in-game menus actually works properly with this setting. It wasn't being constantly warped to the center. I am not sure if this is because of a bug fix in wine or just a special case with this game.
This game suffers from a bug that causes to fail Window Rotation at a point.
As far as I understand this the reason is, the game reads if the mouse is within the game window if not it wont affect the game. This isnt handled by wine due to the fact that it only reads X - input and not the raw mouse input. X needs to pass more information in order to acomplish a checking in a crossplattform way.
Since X changes needs some time this bug will keep the game on bronze for some time.

Starforce copy protection.

My copy of EiB uses starforce copy protection. (which dies horribly).
Does starforce work for you, or did you circumvent it? (If so, how).
P.S. Unlike many others, EiB seems to work just fine on my slowly decaying Windows XP machine...

Mouse problems

The game plays very well using wine 0.9.58 and the patch/hack from this post:
bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6971#c26 Mouse behaviour is a bit erratic in the game menus, but appears to be flawless in-game. The patch will likely break other wine applications though, so just create a .deb file or such to be able to quickly install/uninstall.
BTW: I also needed to manually edit EiB.ini to get higher screen resolutions to work (replaced every resolution mentioned to the desired one). I also edited Default.ini the same way for good measure.
