Additional Comments

The only thing that was necessary in order to get the online piece working correctly was to open the windows command prompt from within wineconsole...

>>wineconsole cmd

navigate to your DFLW root directory and execute DFLW.CMD...

>>C:\\DFLW.CMD

... this will copy the necessary data to the correct locations within the wine directory structure which will allow ibrowse.dll etc... to be properly loaded into memory so that startup.htm can be displayed from within the application.

It took a few hours of trial and error to figure this one out, but it seems to be working great.

1.00.42 on WINE 1.1.39 = GOLD!

This works flawless for me on 1.1.39!

Either setup a separate wine directory (using command below), or clean out your existing one first. (rm ~/.wine)(this will delete your entire WINE configuration, programs, and 'C:' drive!)

ex: env WINEPREFIX=~/.winedflw wine setup.exe

insert cdrom, mount it
open /media/cdrom0/dflsetup
right click setup.exe, open with WINE Windows Program Launcher (or use custom wine dir for DFLW only)
choose "Large Install"
do NOT install directx

find & download:

dflw-Update-.42.zip
www.novahq.net/?show=utilities&cmd=get_file&id=68

dflw-NoCDPatch-.42.zip
www.novahq.net/?show=utilities&cmd=get_file&id=69

Extract files
right click on LWUpdate-.42.exe, open with WINE Windows Program Launcher (or, use custom command above for special dir)

locate Dflw.exe (TYPE ~/.wine HIT ENTER, CLICK drive_c, BROWSE TO Dflw.exe, CLICK OK)

Browse to Dflw.exe
Rename to Dflw.exe_old
Move Dflw.exe from dflw-NoCDPath-.42.zip to this location.

right click Dflw.exe, open with WINE Windows Program Launcher (or, use custom command above for special dir)

3D Video Cards should show up. If not, download winetricks and install d3dx9 (wasn't needed for me)

the intro video will try to run, disable this by going to player settings, intro & turning off

I seem to have problems w/ fullscreen rendering and fglrx. When I close the game, and sometimes open, it crashes my Xorg session entirely w/ kernel driver assertion failures. I got around this by configuring wine to "Emulate a virtual desktop" and enable "Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window" and turning off "Allow the window manager to control the windows" and "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows", and having compiz off, and using Metacity for window decorator.

Regarding playing Public Games: If you're not kicked immediately to the login screen, you may have other issues. I was playing around w/ manually loging in by editing the Startup.htm file (you can login by copying the form into Startup.htm and changing the form method to GET). But, this wasn't needed after I did a clean .wine directory for DFLW.

Really large maps seem kind of laggy, but it's working very well.

I'm going to investigate setting up hosting tools in WINE also. Wish me luck!
